Personal Bio

Dr. Ömer Burak İstanbullu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Eskişehir Osmangazi University. He received his undergraduate education in Biomedical Engineering at Erciyes University, where he conducted research on tumor segmentation from magnetic resonance images. He completed his Master's studies at Istanbul Technical University and Erciyes University, focusing on biomaterial–medical imaging device compatibility, and earned his Ph.D. from Erciyes University with research on improving the biocompatibility of implantable intravascular biomaterials through biomimetic surface modification.

Dr. Istanbullu's research lies at the intersection of biomaterials, biomedical imaging, and biomedical electronics. His work focuses on biomimetic surface engineering, biodegradable and functional biomaterials, conductive coatings, and advanced material characterization, including mechanical, electrochemical, thermal, magnetic, and biological analyses. His current research also explores wearable biomedical technologies, flexible bioelectronics, conductive biomaterials, and wearable sensing platforms for physiological monitoring and personalized healthcare. By integrating advanced materials, additive manufacturing, and electronic systems, he aims to develop intelligent implantable and wearable medical devices with enhanced functionality, imaging compatibility, and long-term biocompatibility. His overarching research goal is to advance innovative biomaterials and biomedical electronic technologies that improve patient safety and contribute to next-generation diagnostic and therapeutic solutions.
